About Lakehead Wrestling Club

For more than 40 years, Lakehead Wrestling Club has been building wrestling in Thunder Bay and across Northwestern Ontario — creating opportunities for athletes, developing coaches, and strengthening the wrestling community at every level.

Our work goes beyond the mat. As a nonprofit sport organization, we support wrestling development through community programming, school wrestling, coach development, athlete pathways, competitions, camps, and events.

We work alongside schools, coaches, athletes, families, and community partners to create more opportunities for people to discover the sport, stay involved, and reach their potential.

Through our senior club program, we have a strong connection to Lakehead University Wrestling, helping create a pathway from youth and high school wrestling into university and senior-level competition. Over the years, athletes from our programs have earned numerous provincial and national medals while coaches and alumni have continued to contribute to wrestling locally, provincially, and nationally.

While we're proud of that competitive legacy, success for us is about more than medals. It's about building a strong wrestling community — supporting school programs, developing great coaches, creating quality training opportunities, hosting events, and helping wrestling grow throughout Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.

After more than four decades, we're proud of where we've been — and excited about what's next.
